Patrick Haesler
Composer - Producer - Sound Designer - Performer
Patrick Haesler is an award-winning composer, producer, performer, sound designer and recording artist from Canberra, Australia (Ngunnawal Country). Beginning as a trumpet player, Patrick has since branched into numerous musical fields, drawing influences from jazz and progressive music.
Throughout his completion of a Bachelor’s degree in music from the ANU (majoring in composition), Patrick developed capabilities in a range of musical styles and technologies and instruments. Patrick has composed and arranged for countless ensemble sizes and makeups including classical ensembles, piano trio, jazz combos and big bands, rock and pop ensembles, horn sections and orchestras, and unique combination of instruments.
Patrick has a deep experience with music production, working primarily with Ableton Live. This has allowed him to render full recordings of compostions, as well as mix and master recorded music and sound. Drawing on this skillset, Patrick has released several albums, EPs and singles under his own name. Mostly recently, in September of 2024 Patrick released Climate Trials a soundtrack originally composed for the 2023 Australian Premiere of Dawn King’s The Trials, produced by Canberra Youth Theatre
In 2018 Patrick entered the world of theatre, serving as musical director for ANU’s Arts Revue. Since then, he has reprised this role as well as composing music and designing sound for several theatre productions. In 2023, he served as resident artist with Canberra Youth Theatre. This placement involved mentoring younf theatre creatives, as well as composing and designing sound for CYT’s season of professional theatre production.
In addition to working on theatre projects, Patrick has also worked in film, video games and online media. His experience with a wide variety of musical genres, ensembles and production techniques have made him a versatile creative in the world of music and sound.
